Growing demand for semiconductors driven by trends such as GenAI, Automation, and E-mobility means industry emissions from semiconductor manufacturing are likely to increase over the coming years. A significant step-up in decarbonisation efforts is required to mitigate these emission increases while simultaneously bringing the semiconductor industry on a path to net-zero by the 2030s. A successful net-zero transition, however, cannot be accomplished by semiconductor manufacturers alone and requires broad collaboration within the semiconductor value chain as well as R&D efforts.

Semiconductor customers, OEMs, and materials suppliers all play a pivotal role in accomplishing decarbonization through carbon data-based decision-making in sourcing, design, capex, and sales along the value chain.
